Blogging Tools – Why your business needs to have a profitable blog
I’ve been blogging since 2010, and I can confidently say it’s why I’ve been able to create a 7-figure online business.
Through my blog, I’ve been able to gain exposure for my products and my brand and I’ve also been able to help thousands of other entrepreneurs start a profitable blog for their businesses as well.
This is why I’m so passionate about this topic and helping others learn how to build a profitable blog for their business.
Blogging Tools – Here’s what a blog can help you do for your brand and your business
- It helps add credibility to you with your audience and in your industry
- It helps you build authority so people will actually listen to you and what you have to say
- It provides automation for your business (imagine having leads and sales coming through on auto-pilot day and night)
There’s no doubt in my mind that to thrive as an entrepreneur, blogging and building an online brand must be one of your top marketing strategies.
However, you’ll need certain tools and resources to help you create a blog that is profitable.
If you don’t have the right blogging tools and resources you’ll just end up with a hobby that sucks up your time and leaves you high and dry.
Definitely not what you want, right? 😉
So let’s dive right into my top list of essential blogging tools you’ll need to start a profitable blog.
Blogging Tools – WordPress
The WordPress platform is by far the best out there for blogging. There’s a million and one reasons why and most experts and professional bloggers will agree that it’s the way to go.
However, make sure you are using WordPress.org and not WordPress.com
Here’s the difference between the two:
WordPress.org is a complete solution for people who are looking to start a blog for the purpose of making money, for promoting a small business, or for any other use such as creating an e-commerce site.
WordPress.com is a free blogging platform which allows anyone to create a blog for free. This platform is perfect for someone who wants to have a blog simply for the purpose of hosting his or her personal writings or using it as a hobby without the intent on making money through their blog.
Also, make sure you’re not using Wix or any other all in one solution blogging platforms like Wix.
Yes, they are easy and fast to set up but essentially it’s like putting your business and hard work in someone else’s hands instead of you having full control and ownership of your blog and business.
If anything should happen to any of these systems or companies you would end up losing all of your hard work overnight and without notice.
You want to control your content and your work on your own personally hosted WordPress blog.

Blogging Tools – Hosting
Hosting is basically a service that will house and maintain the files for one or more of your blogs or website.
Hosting is paid service but the costs are very minimal.
There’s a lot of great hosting services out there and you should definitely do your research.
However, my recommendations are Bluehost and Liquid Web.
Bluehost is a great place to start if you want excellent hosting at a great price and great customer service.
Liquid Web is more of a premium hosting company.
If you’re just starting out try Bluehost and if you already have an established business or you have a lot of websites and paid membership courses and you need a great hosting provider, I definitely recommend Liquid Web.

Blogging Tools – Premium Theme
The next thing you’ll need is a premium theme for your WordPress blog.
A theme is basically the design, look and feel of your blog.
My favorite theme is Optimize Press and I use it a lot in my business.
It’s really robust and has a lot of great features like the ability to create great capture pages, membership sites, opt-in forms, thank you pages and the list goes on.
It’s also easy to use and customize which is really important for branding you and your business.
Blogging Tools – Email Marketing System
An email autoresponder is an email service that allows you to collect your subscriber’s contact details and then set up a series of pre-written email messages that you send to your subscribers all at once.
You can create a scheduled sequence of emails or you can do a one-time email broadcast.
It’s a must-have tool if you want to have automation and growth in your business.
There’s a lot of great email marketing systems out there.
I created an entire blog episode on how I use my email marketing system and I give you some scripts that you can use in your email sequences to help you automate your business and get more people reaching out to you.
The email marketing system that I recommend is Aweber. It’s simple to use and has all the features you’ll need to get started.
Blogging Tools – Mailmunch
Mailmunch is a plugin that I recently discovered and started using and training my students on how to use.
There’s both a free and a paid version of this plugin but I’ve been using the free one and it’s a really cool tool that gives you pre-designed forms to put on your blog that allows you to collect your peoples contact details and have sent over to you automatically via your email marketing system.
I’m loving this plugin and its simplicity.
Blogging Tools – In Closing
These are the bare-bones blogging tools that I use and you’ll need to start a profitable blog.
If you already have a blog make sure you are using these blogging tools or something similar so that you can automate the whole process and start seeing results for your business.
