The formula is C.R.A.V.E - that is the acronym.
When it comes to social media posting or anything for that matter, I find it easier when I have little formulas and road maps to follow.
I go through the C.R.A.V.E checklist to make sure my social media post is going to help my brand, my tribe, and deliver the results I intend it to.
Here's how it works.
This is a reminder to stay consistent with my social media posting schedule and with the audience I am trying to attract.
You need to have a consistent posting schedule, if any of your posts are going to even reach the amount of people that it needs to get that traction.
There are too many people that show up on social media but are not posting content that is relevant to the audience they are trying to attract OR to the products/services they are trying to sell.
Do all your posts have to be relevant to your products, services, or your audience?
The answer is, no. This is because relationship building posts are also important.
However, the majority of your posts must be relevant to helping your tribe and the audience you are trying to attract.
Your social media posts have to help you sell your products and services.
Before you hit the publish button, ask yourself, “is this relevant to my brand, to my business, or to the people that I'm trying to attract?”
You have to ask yourself “what is the goal of this post?” or “what is the specific action that I'm looking for when I make this post?”
Everytime you post something on social media, your goal is some sort of an action that you want from your tribe and from your audience.
Examples:
- You want someone to “like” or “follow”
- You want them to be a lead or a subscriber
- You want them to check out your sales page
- You want them to go to a product that you’re recommending or suggesting
Don’t be a pointless poster.
Your posts have to be valuable to your audience.
You have to ask yourself, “If I post this, is the audience I’m trying to attract to my brand going to find this valuable?”
Before you can answer that, the number one thing you need to know is who your audience is.
Your posts should invoke some sort of emotion from your audience.
Here are things you can ask yourself:
“What type of emotion am I trying to invoke with this post?”
“Does this post visually look the way it reads with the caption?”
“Am I trying to invoke sadness, frustration, overwhelm, relief, clarity, happiness, joy, or gratitude?”
Are you trying to achieve any of those emotions?
If you are, take a look at the picture/video you are posting, double check the caption, and ask yourself - “what could I do to invoke that emotion even more?”
When really good marketers do this, they get a lot of action on their posts.
I use this C.R.A.V.E. formula myself and when the content I post tick the check boxes to this formula, they do infinitely better than when I forget to go through the formula.
That extra little minute of making sure that I have all of those items in place makes the difference.
