Since then, I’ve learned which is the best blogging platform to use for long-term results and which ones to avoid.

Best Blogging Platform – Evaluate your business goals
One of the most important things you’ll want to do first before you launch a blog and brand is to evaluate what your business goals are.
• Do you have a long-term vision for your business?
• Do you want your income to grow year after year?
• Do you want to start a website to get brand awareness or to acquire leads and sales?
• Or do you want both brand awareness and leads and sales?
Most people want both, especially if you’ll be putting in the work anyways.
And quite honestly, I’ve never met an entrepreneur or business owner that has told me they only want to look good on the internet and nothing else.
A great looking blog is nice and easily achievable with just the click of a button.
But there's no point in having a great looking blog if it doesn't give you the ability and functionality to generate leads and sales for your business.
Sales should be your ultimate goal or else you’ll be putting in time and money and getting nothing in return which is basically the same as working for free.
And I’m pretty sure that’s not what you want 😉
Best Blogging Platform – Why WordPress
Choosing the best blogging platform for your business is step one and If you've been following me for some time now, you know how much I love my self-hosted WordPress blog.
This is the platform I advocate and use and it's the reason I've been able to generate thousands of leads and sales for my business.
It’s by far one of the biggest blogging platforms in the world, with countless plugins and add-ons.
However, a lot of people assume that the process of setting up a hosting service and installing WordPress is complicated and time-consuming.
It’s not.
WordPress is easy to setup, manage, and update.
You don’t need to be an Internet expert or an HTML coder to use WordPress and you can go in and make updates and changes at any time.
And I've got you covered because I'll be showing you just how easy it is to set it up in the free step-by-step guide I created just for you.
Best Blogging Platform – Avoid these platforms and systems
If you want to do things right and acquire leads and sales for your business, you’ll want to avoid website builders and systems like Wix, Blogger and the free WordPress platform found on WordPress.com.
Sure, you can sign up for a website builder like Wix and be up and running in no time.
But in the long run, you risk putting your entire business on someone else's platform and at the mercy of their business decisions, not yours.
Here are some reasons why you’ll want to avoid systems like these:
• Limited functionality
• High costs
• Control of your content
If you use a website builder like Wix or Blogger you’re limiting yourself and your business because they have limited functionality.
What this means for you is that you won’t have the ability to put the same optin forms or create a sales funnel like you would be able to if you were using a self-hosted WordPress website.
This will hinder and limit your ability to generate leads and sales for your business.
High costs are also associated with website builders. Yet, on the other hand, WordPress is free.
You never have to worry about hidden charges if your site becomes more popular than expected. WordPress will always be free for you to use.
And I especially advise people to stay away from systems that charge them a membership that gives them a “free” blog included in the price.
Think about this…
Why would a marketing system show you to how to market online and generate leads and sales to then circle back around and bring all those leads right back into their system instead of your own?
At the end of the day, you end up building their brand and system instead of your own.
That's great for them, but will that serve your long-term goals and vision for where you want your business to be?
Here's what I recommend you do instead…
Put all that energy, money, time and focus into building YOU and your brand through your own self-hosted WordPress site.
A self-hosted WordPress site will cost you no more than ten dollars a month.
Yet these membership sites charge their members fifty to one hundred dollars a month.
You can put that kind of money back into your marketing budget or training for yourself and your business.
Best Blogging Platform – Keep control and ownership of your business
I would say this should be the most compelling reason why you want to use your own self-hosted WordPress site.
When you use someone else’s system or sites like Blogger and Wix, you are giving up control and ownership of your content.
And if one of these companies happens to go out of business and shuts down, well so does your Blog and that would be just awful.
Actually, that was me when I first got started blogging.
I started using a blogging platform that operated through a membership system and I started blogging and putting my content on their platform and one day, they were gone and so was all of my content.
Looking back I realize how lucky I was that it happened in the early stages of my blogging career or else it would have wiped my business completely out of the water.
