Why entrepreneur business cards suck…

I want you to go back to a time when you handed someone your business card and they called you back right away and said, “Hey I want to do business with you!”

Remember that day? Yea, me either.

Are business cards completely useless?

Absolutely not!

I put my old business cards to good use.

I placed some all over my luggage just in case it goes missing at the airport one day.

Here’s a picture of my old business card just in case you want to have a good chuckle:

I stopped using entrepreneur business cards at networking events a long time ago.

I discovered a much more effective strategy which I’ll share with you in a moment…

Most people hand out their cards to anyone who is willing to take them.

They figure that they’ll be “out there, somewhere” circulating in the world, helping to build their business.

Times have changed and there are better ways to connect with people and build your business than with entrepreneur business cards that most likely end up in someone’s garbage.

To be quite honest, too many people use business cards as a way to make them look big and important…

But not you...

You’re a savvy entrepreneur and by the end of this blog post, you’ll be in the ranks of entrepreneurs who actually generate business from your networking efforts.

When someone wants your entrepreneur business cards

Let’s say you’re at an event…and someone ASKS for your business card.

Clearly, they want it, so you should have some on hand to give them, right?

Nope. Skip the business card and do this instead…

If you’re a smart entrepreneur or network marketer you’ll want to stay in touch with people you meet at an event or when you’re out and about.

However, there’s a much more effective way of staying in touch with people and creating interest in your business.

The best tool for this is your mobile phone.

Here’s what you’ll want to do from here on as you use your mobile phone, as the tool that replaces your business card;

• Go to the contacts section of your phone

• Add yourself as a contact just like you would if you were adding someone else

• Add your name, phone, email address and blog in the contact details section

• You can also add any of the social media profile platforms that you are active on

When someone asks you for your entrepreneur business card, pull out your phone and say, “I don’t have any on me, but why don’t I take your number and I’ll share my contact details with you so that you can save it in your phone.”

This is brilliant because…

1. They can’t lose your contact info
2. When you text them they’ll know who’s texting
3. When you do this, you find that the ball is in the court of the person most likely to follow up — YOU!

Long gone are the days where you have to spend about 10 minutes just trying to remind someone who you were in a room of hundreds of people at an event.

Use your blog instead of your entrepreneur business cards to bring you business

I’ve been able to generate interest from people I’ve met at networking events even before I contact someone just by putting my blog address in my contact record.

When someone saves my contact record on their phone they’re most likely going to check out my blog and see what I do and what I’m all about.

This is a major authority and credibility piece for you and your business.

It’s important to emphasize that I’m not talking about your company’s replicated website. I’m talking about your own personally branded blog and website.

What if I don’t have a blog or website?

If you are an entrepreneur, if you have a network marketing business to grow, then your personal brand is a key piece to your success.

You could be losing out on potential business or teammates, if you aren’t setting yourself up as an authority in your industry.

A blog or website branded to you is what allows you to UP your game significantly. If you don’t have a blog or website you’ll want to register for my upcoming online training class.

This week, I’m hosting a Free Training that you can attend, where I’m going to be sharing with you how to attract more business to YOU using my Social Media Blueprint.

In closing…

Entrepreneur business cards have no place in your current networking efforts and are a relic of a bygone era that didn’t rely as heavily on technology as we do now.

Start using the strategies I teach you here and in my upcoming training class.

Your business will thank you for it!
