Negative reviews on social media are going to happen.
We’re all susceptible to getting negative reviews or comments on social media and it can definitely suck your energy and leave you feeling angry and frustrated when it happens…totally get it!
But getting a negative review is normal when you’re running a business and you have a presence on social media.
What’s most important is how you handle negative reviews when you get them.
Here are two things to consider when someone leaves you a negative review
I ask myself these questions before I respond to a negative review on social media:
✓ Is this review downright rude or offensive?
✓ Is it constructive criticism?
If a comment is offensive and rude I delete it and I’ll ban that individual from my world.
The negative energy that that person brings is going to simply drag my community & myself down and we don’t need that.
If you know for sure you have a troll that’s being abusive and saying nasty things, don’t be afraid to delete them and ban/block them from your social media account.
However, if the review is constructive criticism and they just want to voice their opinion I’ll reply to them personally.
And I’ll take it one step further…I’ll kill them with kindness.
Negative reviews on social media aren’t always a ‘negative’ thing.
Sometimes it’s an opportunity to get insight into how you can do better and turn a negative experience into a good one.
You also have to understand that it’s good for your audience to see how you handle negative reviews on social media.
Negative reviews on social media can sometimes be good for business
Quite honestly a business or person without any bad reviews is suspicious and can actually make people search for even more bad information.
You want to come across as real and authentic.
No entrepreneur or company that does business ever goes without a negative review on social media.
For example, when I’m researching someone or looking into a business if all I see is cupcakes, unicorns, and rainbows, I get a little bit skeptical cause in the real world of business this isn’t possible.
Let negative reviews on social media be the meat and potatoes of your business
If you want to be real and authentic in your business, learn how to handle negative reviews on social media with professionalism, style, and grace.
It’s not always supposed to be rainbows and butterflies when you have an online presence.
Some people are going to just be downright rude and nasty and some will give you constructive criticism that helps you grow and get better.
