Follow Up Strategies – These 3 words will change your life

So you’re probably wondering what the 3 magic words are…right?

Before I share with you what it is I have to give credit where credit is due.

I didn’t come up with these 3 magic words.

They were actually used on me by my good friend John Melton.

You probably already know John and his lovely wife Nadya Melton because they’re BIG TIME Rockstars on social media and really great friends of mine.

So here are the 3 magic words: (drum roll please)

Follow Up Friday!

Yep, that’s it…

Simple right?

So here's how this all started…

I work with John and he reached out to me one Friday and said “Hey T, what’s up…it’s follow up Friday, just wanted to check in and make sure that everything is good…let me know if you need anything.”

And those 3 words just stood out to me…”Follow Up Friday”

This is genius because let’s face it…were all busy…and it’s such a great batching strategy that will make you look like a busy entrepreneur who works their business professionally.

It also gives you a good excuse to re-connect with your prospects with intent and also with your teammates.

Follow Up Strategies – Here’s what follow-up Friday looks like

Here's how my follow -up Friday looks:

I set myself a reminder to block aside about 30-40 minutes that day and follow up with prospects and check in with teammates.

I’m going to give you some really important tips that will help you when following up with teammates in just a minute…

But first here are some key points to note down when using the follow-up Friday strategy.

I actually use the terminology “Follow Up Friday” to get my prospects conditioned that it’s an actual theme that day and that’s what that time is blocked out for.

And the magical thing that happened?

My team saw it as a theme for the day that was set in stone and started doing it in their business and it started to duplicate throughout my team.

And we're having a blast with it!

Follow Up Strategies – Important tips to keep in mind when checking in on your teammates

The natural course of your business is that 80% of your team is going to kinda hang out or dabble.

The other 20% are the go-getters that take action and hustle it out.

And that’s totally fine…there’s nothing bad about that. People participate at the level they are comfortable with and that’s how it should be.

But here’s something you want to be really aware of when touching base with your teammates that are in the 80%.

You don’t want to make anybody feel bad about not doing anything business related when you're doing your Follow-Up Friday.

So when I do my Follow-Up Friday with my team I just check in to let them know that they are:

✔Awesome
✔Amazing
✔I totally appreciate having them on my team

And I ask them if there’s anything I can do for them in the upcoming week.

Here’s what I don’t do when I follow up with my team:

✔I don’t ask them what they did this week
✔I don’t ask them what they’re going to be doing in the upcoming week
✔I just love on my team – that is all

If you keep checking up on people to see if they’ve done any work and they haven’t…they’re just going to get discouraged and probably want to quit.

And you don’t want that so make sure you just LOVE on your team and not be a source of discouragement.

Follow Up Strategies – Using Follow Up Friday for prospects that are on the fence

I do the same thing with my prospects…

I reach out to them and I use the Follow Up Friday terminology as well.

So they see it as something I have down on my schedule and it’s part of how I run my business and it’s a really good excuse to call them is they’re still on the fence.

Follow Up Strategies – In Closing

Have fun with follow up Friday.

I've never been a big fan of follow up because honestly, it's not the most fun thing to do…UNLESS you make it fun like my team and I do now and make a themed day out of it and keep it fun and light.

You'll start closing more sales and getting your team motivated and feeling loved which goes a long way.

However, if you get stumped with what to say or how often to follow up wiht this process…then make sure you get My Prospecting Follow Up Guide so you know exactly how many times to follow up and exactly what to say each step of the way.
