How to Create the Coolest Team Culture that Everyone Wants to Join

Yesterday we just got back from a Epic 7 day Team Cruise and as I was traveling back on the plane I got thinking that if everyone knew the power of Team Culture there would be so many more flourishing teams in our industry.

Here’s a really fun video of cruise that I just put together last night – Team Culture at it's Finest

This team culture can also apply to any team environment. Sports teams, sales team, etc. Without team culture and incentives you got a boring unmotivated team and who the heck wants that? More importantly, who wants to be a part of that?

I know I don’t.

When I joined the company I’m in now, I had previous Home Business experience and I said to myself “If I build this company, it has to be fun and rewarding for everyone…. No exceptions”

The problem that most people have when they join their company is thinking that the income and the benefits will come out of thin air. Obviously if you’re a smart cookie reading this you’ll know that that’s definitely NOT the case.

We have to create the dream.

No one else is going to create it for us and that was the same for the Team Culture that I wanted to create. IT HAD TO BE FUN.

You have to understand that acknowledge that not everyone in our Home Business Industry is going to make money….. in fact about 5% make the big bucks that everyone wants. Now I don’t want you to be the ignoramus and concluded that this industry doesn’t work…. it works if YOU work it.

Most people are just lazy and that’s no fault of our industry.

However, I know that there are many other reasons that people join us and it’s not just the money.

People want to feel a part of something bigger than themselves, they want to feel special, they want to live a bigger life, they want to contribute more.

As a leader, if you really understand this, then you can create a team culture that people will never want to leave even if they're not making the BIG BUCKS yet.

In fact, we have people on our team that don’t care about the money and don’t build a team but they just want to travel and have fun with us.

So how can I help you to build a team culture in your team?team culture

#1 Understand that people have different outcomes than you.

When you get someone started on your team ask them what their goals are with the program. Don’t assume, ask them.

Here’s what I say (keep in mind I might be in a different industry than you)
“Okay Ms. Prospect, we have 3 different types of people that come on board with us. (1) we have people that just want to use the membership and enjoy the benefits of the product (2) we have people that want to make a few hundred bucks a month to cover some extra bills or add a little savings to the account (3) we have people that come on board and they see the BIG vision and they want to create a solid full time income. Where do you see yourself?”

Once you understand where they see themselves you can guide them accordingly.
This will make all you’re new teammates feel welcomed and comfortable.

#2 Plug Them In

The Biggest thing I’ve learned over the years is the importance of social proof in team culture. You have to show your new teammate that this is bigger than just you. How do you do this?
Plug them into your team Facebook group, get them to the next company event and get them a part of everyone involved FAST.

#3 Recognition

I’ve also learned over the years that people will work harder for recognition than a paycheck.

So how do you keep people on your team motivated?

You recognize their efforts AND results.

Recognize them in your team Facebook group, send a team email out, feature them on your Blog if you have one (you should have one).

Any way that you can think of to publicly reward greatness in your team….. DO IT.

#4 Have Team Trips so You Can Bond with your New Family

I say this because my Team is my family! We do at least 2 team trips a year and once someone experiences a team trip with our crew…. they're lifers in our business. We mastermind, we play and we experience the world together. Who could ever leave that team culture?

Last March we did a 10 day tour of Ireland with our team and it was the best experience I’ve ever had! Click Here to see the Blog Post on that experience.

Team Culture is more important than money in our industry (even though we make great money too).

You can have a team that’s making great money with no team culture and that’s what I like to call a ‘weak team’. Because once you have top money earners on your team, they’re going to get prospected for other opportunities and if your culture isn’t strong you could loose them.

Just keeping it Real!

If you build a strong team culture and a new family with your people….. you have a solid business and not to mention, the most fun and rewarding time.

If you have certain things that you’ve put in place for your team, share them below in the comments section. I love sharing ideas for great ways to keep the team culture flourishing.

See you on the Next Blog Post!

Much Love and Success in your Business,
