In this episode, I'll be sharing some prospecting tips to help you properly prospect other network marketers and get them interested in possibly doing business with you.
[WARNING] This post might be a bit controversial…
You ready?
I’m just going to come out and say it.
"You should learn how to effectively prospect other network marketers."
Yikes!! Say What?
I know, right?
I used to think it was totally unethical to prospect other network marketers.
UNTIL…
I realized something very powerful and important about this topic that I hadn’t really given much thought to.
In this episode of Tanya Aliza TV, we'll be talking about why you’ll want to prospect other network marketers and how to go about it in an ethical way.
With every Episode of Tanya Aliza TV, I like to empower you with a POWERFUL free resource that you can implement right away and create results with fast in your business.
This week, I put a great resource together for you called How To Re-Direct The Pitch When Somebody Tries To Pitch You.
This is a really cool strategy that will show you how to re-direct the conversation when someone on social media tries to pitch you with their business, service or product.
Since most people don’t have the proper training on how to approach people on social media, you’ll be able to re-direct the conversation to present yourself as a leader and someone of value.
I felt it was REALLY important for me to do an episode on this topic because of the growing number of attraction marketing systems out there that are teaching their members that other network marketers are the best group of people to prospect for their business.
Now at one point I thought it was completely unethical to prospect other network marketers.
BUT…
I’ve changed my mind.
I’ll share why in just a sec...
But first, let’s talk about why these attraction marketing systems are teaching their members to solely prospect other network marketers.
The idea behind this approach is that network marketers are easier to prospect because you don't have to overcome the typical objections that naturally occur in the industry.
Network marketers are already sold on why they should be in the industry so it makes your job a whole lot easier.
Makes total sense, right?
Actually, this can totally blow up in your face if you don’t do it right (more on that in a minute).
But here’s why I changed my view on this topic.
Over the years of being in this industry, I’ve come across a lot of other network marketers who really love the industry but for different reasons haven’t found the leadership, products, and business that suits them best.
It makes sense that this would be the case considering there are many companies that have gone out of business or changed their policies drastically which leaves thousands of network marketers searching for another company and team to join and call their new home.
I realized that regardless of how I felt there were always going to be other reps that would be searching for a company and team to join.
And as a leader, I had to position myself in a way where I could help as many individuals as possible.
Absolutely not.
You should put yourself in front of other people and not just network marketers in order to grow your team.
You’ll want to figure out other targets of people that you enjoy working with or would like to work with and learn how to put yourself in front of them.
In Episode 53 I talk about some of the best prospects that can skyrocket the growth of your business and I encourage you to go take a look at it once you’re done reading this blog post.
If you are going to be talking to other network marketers, there are two major things that you have to remember before going into a conversation with them:
1. Assume that they are happy with their decision in joining their company and that they love what they are doing. Don’t bash or talk negatively about their company or products.
Always keep the conversation on the assumption that they are happy with their company and its products.
If you do, it will make you look slimy and unprofessional and it will immediately close the doors for you.
2. Ask questions.
Never make assumptions that they are unhappy or not getting any results. This will turn them off and you’ll most likely end up getting blocked or ignored.
Instead, ask them questions.
Here are the types of questions I always ask:
• What company are you in?
• How long have you been with that company?
• What have your results been up until this point?
• How’s your training inside of your company?
• What does your leadership do to help you generate leads and sales for your business?
• Do you use social media?
The purpose of asking these questions is to find out if…
• There is an opportunity
• If they are happy with where they’re at
You just want to see if they are someone whom you can help and provide some support to.
You definitely don’t want to come out and pitch them on your business, but if there is something you can help them with then share bits and pieces of information that can help them out regardless of whether they join you or not.
I will say that 70% of the network marketers that I speak to aren’t getting the proper training they need in order to get results.
So, as you’re talking to other network marketers always position yourself as a person of value that can help them.
If you do and they decide one day they aren’t happy where they’re at, they will most likely come to you as the leader they’d want to work with.
Now let’s say you’re talking to someone who’s totally sharp and you know you’d love to work with them but they aren’t completely happy or thriving where they’re currently at.
What do you say to them?
Here’s something I would typically say…
“This might be coming completely out of left field but it doesn’t sound like you’re very happy in these areas (insert what they’ve told you and be specific) and I think you’re super cool and (insert a genuine compliment) I’d be completely stupid not to ask, if you at all keep your options open when it comes to things that are outside of what you’re currently doing. Do you keep your options open?”
If they say yes, then you can go ahead and book an appointment with them to show them your business.
Now let’s talk about how this would cross the line and completely become unethical.
If you are poaching people or trying to steer people who are already passionate and happy with what they are already doing or you are trying to prove how your company or business is better than theirs, then you seriously need to re-evaluate your approach.
Knocking on someone’s company or products is going to get you nowhere fast.
Your goals should always be to build a relationship and see if there’s anything you can help them with and leave the doors open for them so in the future if they were in that position, they would remember you and reach out to you.
Make sure you are building relationships and planting seeds with other network marketers.
Remember to always ask them questions. Never assume they aren’t happy with what they’re doing. Be a person of value and offer any help you can, if they need it.
Not everyone will join you right away but should their circumstances change you can bet that you’ll be the first person they call to take a look at what you’re doing.
How about those people on social media that haven’t been given the proper training and start pitching their business at you instead of building a relationship with you first?
